The Troop 536 Committee Meeting was called to order at 7:34 p.m. by Committee Chairman, Paul Smith.

Committee Chair Welcome - Paul Smith

Welcome!  Last meeting was March 15, 2007

Do not have any new business to bring up.

Scoutmaster’s Report - Dave Smith

Report attached with additional comments below.

Summer camp is fast approaching.  Richard Smith and Bill Miller could come if needed.  Andrea and Sherry will drive down for the a day to check things out.  Will and Jimmy are not going.  Have not heard about refunds.  Twelve boys going to summer camp.  Camp is about an hour or so away so if you want to come up for a meal, please do so!

Thank you Heather for the great garage sale - Fantastic job!! Thank you to everyone that helped.

Rock Climbing Camp-Out - Campsite right next to the climbing wall ended being a field for cows so the troop had to relocate.  There was lots of climbing and no injuries.  Set up and tear down - more practice needed

Court of Honor - Stachiwland - Boys were as well prepared as much as scouts could be!

Canoeing Trip almost didn’t happen but with the help of Andrew Smith, the trip went off as planned.  Kong’s wife is CPR trained as is  Fletch, an Eagle Scout but he could not attend the trip.  Water was 2 - 4 feet dep.  Some of the rapids were rough.  The long trip had to wait to begin.  Set up and take down were ok

Reconciliation for canoe camp-out - do not know who purchased the food for Duck Tape Patrol; either Danny or Jackson.  Receipts are in hand for Ghost Patrol and Adults.

Scout Show was disappointing - I (Dave Smith) should have stepped up more.  Brian Dube did not get the First Aid training together.  Rather than not participating at all, the PLC came up with a booth.  They came up with a carnival game involving candy and squirt guns.  The boys enjoyed it.  Next year the planning will not be an issue.  No merit badges were earned at the Scout Show.

The troop website has been moved to Bear Tech and should be up and running and soon.  We should be able to go in and make up-dates ourselves.

We could buy our name back for $150.00 - will set up up for 1-2 months.

Wood Badge Training - Dave Smith and Janet Mayer have completed the process.  The training involves doing what the boys do, taking all the positions.  Training ran from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

The boys need to plan to annual balloon fight.  Planning meeting in August.

Treasurer’s Report - Joan Ternan

If you want a full report, please let Joan know.  A complete budget report is attached.  Nothing unusual since last meeting.  We have budgeted for four Eagle Scouts.  We are on budget for fundraising.  Troop t-shirts could be sold for $10.00 each.  Summer camp t-shirts were not offered.  The boys could buy them at camp.

A motion was made to accept the budget as presented.  The motion was seconded and accepted.

Advancement - Gloria Miller

Eagle Board of Review set up in conjunction with District

Fundraising - Heather Maloney

The garage sale netted about $1,500.00 after lunch expenses.  Donations for the sale kept coming till about 9:30 a.m.  We had lots of help.  William Smith and Jacob Ellison stayed all day.  People stopped and gave donations.  May try to plan a fundraiser over the summer, perhaps August 11th.  Perhaps the carwash at Spring Creek that we had done before.  Several ideas for selling;  Pre-sell tickets for $5.00, sell on site, not sell tics and just pick a day to work at the car wash, all monies collected goes into one pot and the proceeds divided amongst those who work.  Andre will check into the possibility of doing this and pitch it to the guys.

Training Opportunities - Sherry Amato-Smith

IOLS Training will be Sept. 29 and Oct. 12-14.  Sherry has been asked to be the director.

Training in September, more information to come.  Some training can be done over the internet.  Training is a good thing.  The training the committee receives, the better the troop will run.

January 4, 2008 - University for Scouting

New Business

Janet Mayer is working on the playground at the church as part of her wood Badge requirement.  They need to put down a barrier for grass and rocks.  They need 4,000 square feet of weed block, to take up the rocks, put the weed block and rocks back.  They are looking for donations.  Janet appreciates the work done so far.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:20 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Cindy Stachiw
